Bir Uttam CR Dutt died

News Desk: Major General (Retd.) Chitta Ranjan Dutt (CR Dutt) Bir Uttam, Founder President of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council and Commander of Sector 4 during the War of Liberation is no more.

He died at a Florida hospital in the United States on Tuesday (August 25th) at around 9:30 am. He was 93 years old at the time of his death. Rana Dasgupta, general secretary of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, confirmed his death.

"CR Dutt is dead," he said. He died at 9 am Bangladesh time today. He was 93 years old at the time of his death.

Rana Das Gupta said, “As he was 93 years old, he had various incurable diseases. He is in Florida, USA. He was at his daughter's house. The girl's name is Kavita Dasgupta. There he suddenly fell into the bathroom last Friday. He fell and fractured his leg. Then he fainted.

He was taken to a Florida hospital. Soon after his arrival, his condition worsened. His daughter called from there yesterday and said that he was on ventilation around 9 pm last night. The situation is alarming. I got the news a while ago that he is dead. '

Regarding the funeral, the general secretary of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Parishad said, "Their family wants to bring the body to Bangladesh." We also want the body to come to Bangladesh. How will his body come? Because now the planes are off. We want his funeral to be held in Bangladesh. However, I have not decided where his grave will be in Bangladesh. I just got the news. Moreover, it will take some time for the body to arrive. In the meantime, we will talk to everyone and fix the issue. '

CR Dutt was born on 1 January 1927 in Shillong, Assam. His ancestral home is in Mirashi village of Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj.

He was the first Director General of Bangladesh Rifles (now BGB). The government awarded him the title of Bir Uttam for his heroic contribution in the war of liberation.
