Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep grief over the death of CR Dutt

News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed grief over the death of Major General (Retd.) Chitta Ranjan Dutt (CR Dutt) Bir Uttam, Founder President of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Parishad and Commander of Sector 4 during the Liberation War.

CR Dutt died at a Florida hospital in the United States on Tuesday (August 25th) at around 9am Bangladesh time. He was 93 years old at the time of his death.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of CR Dutt Bir Uttam and extended her condolences to the bereaved family.

Rana Das Gupta, general secretary of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, confirmed the death of CR Dutt. "CR Dutt is dead," he said. He died at 9 am Bangladesh time today. Rana Das Gupta further said, “As he was 93 years old, he had various incurable diseases.

He is in Florida, USA. He was at his daughter's house. There he suddenly fell into the bathroom last Friday. He fell and fractured his leg. Then he fainted. He was taken to a Florida hospital. Soon after his arrival, his condition worsened. His daughter called from there yesterday and said that he was on ventilation around 9 pm last night.

The situation is alarming. I got the news a while ago that he is dead. ' CR Dutt was born on 1 January 1926 in Shillong, Assam. His ancestral home is in Mirashi village of Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj. He was the first Director General of Bangladesh Rifles (now BGB). The government awarded him the title of Bir Uttam for his heroic contribution in the war of liberation.
