Dr. Sabrina-Arif at Court, The Hearing Has Started Today

News Desk: In the case of cheating with patients with COVID-19 test, eight accused, including JKG Healthcare Chairman Dr. Sabrina A Chowdhury and CEO Ariful Haque Chowdhury, have been taken in the Dhaka court. The charge sheet hearing will start in the court today. They were produced in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court around 12 noon on Thursday.

Several lawyers for the defendants complained to the court that they had not received the case papers. Due to this, they could not apply to the court for the release of the accused from the case. They applied for a new date for the hearing of the case.

Abu Abdullah, the state's public prosecutor, opposed the request. He told the court that it was a high-profile case. The other accused in the case have received copies of the case documents. Those who did not get the papers, it is their failure. We want a hearing on the allegations in this case today. After hearing the statements of both the parties, Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari fixed the time for hearing the chargesheet in the case at 2.30 pm.

Earlier in the morning, Sabrina Arif and her husband Ariful Haque Chowdhury and other accused were produced before the court from jail. Then they were taken to the court around 12 noon. Standing on the court bench, Sabrina and her husband Ariful spoke to each other. Several times they talked among themselves.

Earlier on August 5, the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DMP) filed a chargesheet against eight people, including Sabrina Arif Chowdhury, in the Dhaka CMM court for allegedly cheating the Corona report.

According to the chargesheet, JKJ's Sabrina and her husband Ariful Haque Chowdhury played a major role in the corona fraud. Apart from these two, the other six accused in the case are JKG coordinator Saeed Chowdhury, former JKG officer Humayun Kabir, his wife Tanzina Patwari, Biplob Das, Shafiqul Islam and Jebunnesa. The accused named Mamunur Rashid has been acquitted from the case. The chargesheet was filed 42 days after the case was filed.
