4 killed in US birthday party shooting

International Desk: There has been a gun attack at a birthday party in the United States. Four people were killed. Three others were injured.

The suspected attacker committed suicide and was later recovered from a vehicle with gunshot wounds. Indian media NDTV reported this information in a report on Sunday (July 7).

According to the report, four people were killed and three others were wounded when a gunman opened fire at a house in Kentucky, USA, on Saturday, police said. Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Florence Police Department.  Besides, three other injured were taken to a nearby hospital and their condition is said to be critical but stable.

Police Chief Jeff Mallery said at a press conference that officers responded to the residence around 3 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of gunfire and heard gunshots as they approached the home. Many were attending a birthday pool party there at the time of the incident.  The suspected assailant is described as an adult male and fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived after the attack. But a team of police chased him. The suspect then left the road and fell into a ditch. 

Law enforcement officers recovered the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was later taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, news agency Xinhua reported. Officials said initial investigations indicated the suspect was involved in the attack alone and there was no immediate danger to the public.
