233 dead, 900 injured in train collision in India

International desk: The death toll in the terrible train accident in the Indian state of Odisha has increased to 233. More than 900 people were injured. Many people are still trapped inside the train. It is feared that the death toll may increase. News from NDTV.

The accident took place in Baleshwar district of Orissa near the border of West Bengal at 7:20 pm on Friday. About 900 people were injured in this incident. The train left Shalimar station in Howrah district of West Bengal at around 3:25 pm on that day and was going to Chennai. In addition to West Bengal, many Bangladeshi nationals travel regularly to Vellore in the South for treatment.

As a result, many Bangladeshis are feared to be victims of accidents. It is reported that several coaches of the train derailed near Bahanaga station, 40 km from Baleshwar station. 18 carriages of the train derailed except for three carriages when it collided with the goods carriage. After the engine of the train derailed, the passenger compartments including sleeper class, pantry car.

The impact of the accident was so great that the engine of the Karmandal Express overturned the goods carriage. According to railway sources, several passengers were injured in the accident. However, the exact number of passengers injured or killed has not yet been clarified by the railways. It is not yet clear how serious the train accident was, especially in the dark of night.

After the accident, the locals were the first to start the rescue work. Meanwhile, a huge police and rescue force including railway officials and workers reached the spot. Relief vans have already reached the spot and are carrying out rescue operations.

Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said that more than two hundred ambulances have been sent to the scene in Balasore district. Pradeep Jena said in a tweet that so far 850 injured people have been sent to hospital and 233 deaths have been reported. More than 100 additional doctors have been deployed.
