International desk: 18 people died in severe floods in Oman. While several others are still missing, nine schoolgirls and the driver of their car who were swept away by floodwaters on Tuesday were found dead. Also 8 more people lost their lives in different places of the country. Oman's National Committee for Emergency Management said rescue teams were searching for some people swept away by the floodwaters.

The country's state media reported that the police and army have been deployed to evacuate citizens from the Ash Sharqiyah area of ​​Uttar Pradesh, which was the most affected by the floods. Meanwhile, heavy rains have flooded major highways in the UAE.

Meanwhile, due to strong winds, flight operations at Dubai International Airport were disrupted. Airport runways and metro stations were inundated by floodwaters. Earlier rainfall caused moderate flooding in the mountainous areas of the emirate. Sharjah and Al Ain received heavy rain with thunder and hail late on Monday night. The Dubai Meteorological Office has issued a warning of heavy rain and thundershowers today. Dubai, Ajman and Sharjah authorities have suspended classes in schools due to adverse weather conditions.
