International Desk: North Korea has again launched two ballistic missiles. On Monday (March 27) morning, the country fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea from its east coast. Two days before this, however, the East Asian country had tested a new attack drone with nuclear capabilities. Reuters reported this information in a report on Monday. According to reports, North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea from its east coast on Monday morning, South Korea's military said. North Korea has fired a series of missiles in recent days. Besides, a US aircraft carrier is scheduled to arrive in South Korea on Tuesday, and the latest missile launch took place in the meantime.

South Korea's military's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said two short-range ballistic missiles were fired from North Korea's North Hwanghae province at 7:47 a.m. Monday and flew about 370 kilometers (230 miles) into the air. According to the Japanese government, both of the missiles fired appear to have fallen outside Japan's exclusive economic zone. Meanwhile, South Korea's military termed North Korea's move as a serious provocation in violation of UN Security Council resolutions. The country also "strongly condemned" the missile launch and called for an immediate end to such activities.

The JCS said in a statement, "We will keep a close eye on North Korea's various activities and maintain strong readiness based on our capabilities to respond overwhelmingly to any provocation." On the other hand, the Japanese government also expressed "strong protest" to North Korea in this incident. Tokyo has said that Pyongyang's missile launch is a threat to the security and peace of Japan, the entire region and the international community. The US aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and other ships in its fleet are due to arrive at a naval base in South Korea's southeastern port city of Busan on Tuesday, Reuters said. And before this incident of missile launch happened. However, before reaching the port, the US aircraft carrier will conduct joint maritime exercises with South Korean forces on the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula on Monday.

South Korea's Ministry of Defense reported this information, according to Reuters. Basically, North Korea has stepped up its military tests in recent weeks. Pyongyang fired multiple cruise missiles last Wednesday. The country claims that the missiles were fired to practice strategic nuclear strikes. North Korea also test-fired a new nuclear-capable underwater attack drone last Friday, the country said. North Korea's supreme leader Kim Jong Un has warned that South Korea and the United States should stop joint military exercises. However, such military exercises between the US and South Korea are viewed by North Korea as an attack on them. For this reason, Pyongyang has announced further modernization of its military power.
