German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht has resigned

International Desk:  German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht has finally resigned. He resigned on Monday in the face of criticism. Before that, some German media reported that Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht may resign last week. However, a government spokesperson did not comment on the matter at the time calling it a 'rumour'. Ukraine spoke about the war in a video posted on social media on New Year's Eve. 

In the video, fireworks are seen in the sky behind Lambrecht. Critics say that while Ukrainians live in fear of missiles, Germany celebrates the New Year with fireworks, a video showing a disparate situation, the German defense minister said. 

Due to the release of such videos, the CDU, the opposition party in the parliament, called the defense minister a tondef, i.e. a person who does not understand the difference between different situations, and demanded his resignation. Defense Minister's criticism is not new. Earlier in May, her 21-year-old son flew to the northern German holiday island of Sylt in a military helicopter.
