Armed Forces Day is celebrated at Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia diplomatic news

News Desk:  Armed Forces Day 2022 was celebrated with due dignity at Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. On this occasion, a reception was organized at Bangabandhu Chattar of the Embassy on Monday evening. Ambassadors of different countries, defense attachés, diplomats, high-ranking government officials of Saudi Arabia, Bangladeshi doctors in Riyadh, engineers, businessmen and other immigrants from various professions attended the event.

Air Vice Marshal Khaled bin Salamah Atiqullah Al Lokmani of the Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Ambassador of Bangladesh appointed to Saudi Arabia on the occasion of Armed Forces Day. Mohammed Javed Patwari BPM (Bar), the Chief Guest and Dean of Diplomatic Core cut the cake with Ambassador of Djibouti Daya Addin Saeed Bamakhrama. Then the ambassador said. Mohammad Javed Patwari and Embassy Defense Attache Brigadier General Mohammad Ghulam Farooq handed over the crest to the chief guest.

The ambassador said that our great freedom has been achieved through the struggle and resistance of the armed forces and brave freedom fighters under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On this day in 1971, the combined attack of the Bangladeshi Army, Navy and Air Force left the Pakistani invading forces disorientated, which made our victory easy. The ambassador said that we remember the contribution of the armed forces in our great liberation war with deep respect.

Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwari BPM (Bar) said that the armed forces are playing an exemplary role in maintaining world peace which is a matter of great pride for Bangladesh. Peacekeepers of the Bangladesh Armed Forces are successfully performing their duties in the United Nations Peace Mission in different countries of the world. At present, there are about seven thousand Bangladeshi peacekeepers working in different countries of the world. At this time, the ambassador remembered with deep respect the 164 army officers and soldiers who died while serving in various peace missions.  

Referring to the economic progress of Bangladesh, the ambassador said that Bangladesh is ready to work together with Saudi Arabia to implement the Saudi Vision 2030 through new engagement and cooperation in various fields including defense cooperation.

Brigadier General Mohammad Ghulam Farooq, Defense Attache of the Embassy, ​​presented the program.  

At this time, a documentary made on the various activities, history and traditions of the armed forces was shown. Embassy officials and employees were present on the occasion.
