News Desk: Crisis has also appeared in sugar market like edible oil. After increasing the price in stages, this time there is a kind of 'disappearance' of sugar from the market. Even if you can find it in one or two shops, you have to pay Tk 105 to Tk 110 per kg. Some shopkeepers are not only selling sugar, they are selling sugar on the condition of buying other products. Retail traders say that the price of sugar has never risen above Tk 100 before. Talking to the traders, it is known that taking into consideration the production cost of the local refining mills, the government increased the price by 6 rupees per kg on October 6 and fixed the price of open sugar at 90 rupees. However, sugar is not available at this price in the market. Open sugar is being sold at Tk 110 per kg. And after fixing the price of packaged sugar at Tk 95 per kg, the supply of this sugar in the market has been reduced. Shakil Mia, a grocery shopkeeper of Kawran Bazar, said that he is selling at a higher price because he has to buy it at a higher price. Before this, the price of sugar per kg never left Tk 100. In view of the demands of the businessmen, on October 6, the Ministry of Commerce had decided to increase the price of open sugar by Tk. 90 per kg and packaged sugar at Tk. 95 per kg.
