News desk: The government has decided to import food from these five countries: Russia, India, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. An agreement has been reached in this regard.

Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam gave this information in a press briefing at the Secretariat after the Cabinet meeting on Sunday (September 4).

The meeting was held at Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's office.

Cabinet Secretary said, we have checked that importing food from Russia will not cause any problem. Atap rice is coming from Myanmar. Agreements have also been made to buy rice from Thailand, Vietnam and India.

He said, within two/one day, the Food Ministry will hold a briefing on food. They told us today that 19 lakh 50 thousand metric tons of food is stored.

"Recently the price of rice has come down by Rs 4-5 due to OMS and food friendly programmes. As a result, a major crisis has been removed from the market. Apparently it is giving a good result. Since the food friendly program is in the next two months or two more months later…. It has been decided to run for three-four months. In that case, we will need about five to six lakh metric tons of food grains. He added.

Khandaker Anwarul Islam said, in today's meeting, the Ministry of Food has confirmed that Allready has made an agreement to replace it and given a work order. So from next November we are thinking that there could be a global food crisis, by the grace of Allah we have got a comfortable scenario. We have received work orders and assurances of food. Rice and wheat have been confirmed from Russia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

He also said that along with import, Amon will also come. Even if the amount is less, a large portion will come. Overall the food scenario will be comfortable by the grace of Allah. Even so, they have been asked to arrange food from one or two other places. No chance can be taken. If for some reason one or two work orders fail, then alternatively we can keep our stock by collecting food from other places.

The cabinet secretary said, the amount of food that will remain in our godown, it has been decided to buy more access (extra) for that amount of food and safety. Now that the agreement or MU is done there will be no more sortage (no food shortage) by the grace of Allah.

What did the Prime Minister say about food? In response to questions from journalists, he said, he (Prime Minister) specifically said that we cannot rely only on the food replacement that we are doing. If we have a comfortable season, let us take the initiative to buy food from one or two other places. For some reason, God forbid, if one of the four or five says I can't pay, so that we don't get into trouble. So need to buy some extra food, it will be comfort scenario for us.
