Terrorist attack on 5 journalists in Lalmonirhat outraged journalists

Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, Lalmonirhat: On Friday (August 12) afternoon, there was a sudden terrorist attack on 4 journalists while they were going to collect news in Panchagram Union of Sadar Upazila of Lalmonirhat. 4 journalists were injured in this incident. They have been admitted to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital. A terrorist group of 20/25 people ambushed Jamuna TV journalist Anishur Rahman Ladla, Prothom Alo journalist Abdur Rob Sujan, now television journalist Mahfuzul Islam, led by Saheb Mandal, son of Azizur Rahman Mandal, son of Panchagram Union Awami League of the upazila, in Sakorpar Dinaduli village of the union. Bakul and Yamuna TV camera person Ahsan Shakib were injured. At this time, Jamuna TV journalist Anichur Rahman's expensive video camera, tripod and helmet were stolen and vandalized. The four injured journalists received first aid from the emergency department of Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital on Friday evening. When asked to know, Jamuna Television's Lalmonirhat district representative Anisur Rahman Ladla said, 15-20 people attacked us in a gang on the way back after gathering news of an incident that happened to a woman. 4 journalists including me are injured and admitted in Sadar Hospital. Lalmonirhat District BNP President Asadul Habib Dulu went to Sadar Hospital to see four journalists injured in an attack led by the son of Panchagram Union Awami League president of Sadar Upazila in Panchagram of Lalmonirhat. He demanded exemplary justice for the criminals. On the other hand, District Awami League General Secretary Matiar Rahman inquired about the injured journalists in the hospital. He said, organizational action will be taken against those responsible. Also, all journalist organizations of the district expressed their condemnation and anger. And with an ultimatum demanding to bring them to justice. If not, all journalists will go to a larger movement. Officer-in-charge of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station OC Ershadul Alam said that police have been sent to the spot in this incident. The police recovered the belongings of journalists from Kachukshet. The process of arresting the accused is going on. On the same day, a camera mobile motorcycle was vandalized by Daily Ajker Patrika correspondent Ravi K in Hatibandha upazila of the district while taking pictures of government tree cutting.
