Launch of another daily in Dinajpur

Salah Uddin Ahmed, Dinajpur: Another daily newspaper has started publication from Dinajpur, Mafswal district town. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP unveiled the cover of the newspaper named "Dainik Birol Sangbad" at a Chinese restaurant in the city on Thursday night. Earlier the newspaper was published as a weekly since 2015. This brings the number of daily newspapers published from Dinajpur to 19. Also several weekly newspapers including online are being published from Dinajpur. While inaugurating the magazine, State Minister Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ensured freedom and rights of journalists and newspapers. Journalists could not write the truth before this government came to power. Journalists are tortured and even killed for writing. Journalists were strangled by the then military junta. Today is not that day. Media and journalists are enjoying greater freedom than at any other time in the past. People's rights are being talked about in all media including newspapers, electronic media. And Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given this opportunity. He expressed regret and said that no one could have written against Dalal Act and Indemnity during BNP Jamaat's tenure. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came to power and canceled these two laws and prosecuted the war criminals and the killers of Bangabandhu. This government has guaranteed the right to write and speak freely. He expressed his hope that Daily Biral Sanbad is published not for individuals or groups, but for the establishment of people's rights. The function was presided over by Ramakant Roy, editor and publisher of Dainik Birol Sangbad newspaper and General Secretary of Birol Upazila Committee of Awami League. Deputy Commissioner Khaled Muhammad Zaki, Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed, President of Dinajpur Press Club Swarup Bakshi Bachchu, former General Secretary Golam Nabi Dulal and President of Citizens' Initiative Abul Kalam Azad and others spoke. On this occasion, government and private level officials, politicians, journalists and civil society representatives were present.
