Attack on a journalist in Bakshiganj

Imran Mahmud, Jamalpur: Rashidul Islam Roni, Bakshiganj correspondent of Bakshiganj newspaper of Bakshiganj upazila of Jamalpur was attacked. The incident took place in Alirpara village of Bagarchar union of the upazila around 2 pm on Friday. Injured journalist Rashidul Islam Roni is under treatment at Bakshiganj Upazila Health Complex. According to local sources, Rashedul Islam Roni's elder brother Md. Babu Mia's younger brothers Ashraf Ali and his father-in-law had a family dispute going on for a long time. Today at noon, Md. Babu Mia and his brothers-in-law went to Ashraf Ali's house and had an argument with his father-in-law. At one point they both get stuck. After receiving the news, Rashedul Islam Roni went to that house. Rashedul Islam Roni called the police for rescue. At this time Roni was held and beaten. After receiving the news, Nazrul Islam Saudagar, mayor of Bakshiganj Municipality, rescued Roni and admitted him to Bakshiganj Health Complex with the help of locals. Rashedul Islam Roni said, I went to the spot after receiving the news, went there and called the police. Then some people attacked me with native weapons. Bakshiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Tariqul Islam said that no one has filed a complaint at the police station yet, if necessary, action will be taken.
