Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in the southwestern part of Sydney, Australia's largest city. Thousands of residents have been instructed to evacuate to safer areas due to fears of flooding in areas along the east coast.

According to CNN, the meteorological office has warned of heavy rains and flash floods along the east coast from Newcastle to Batman Bay in the state of New South Wales. Landslides are also expected if the rains intensify in the next two days.

New South Wales Minister for Emergency Situations Cook Steve Cook said in a televised address: "We are facing multiple threats at once. River water surges, flash floods and erosion in coastal areas have all started simultaneously. It's a really deadly emergency. "

More than 200 mm of rain fell in many areas on Sunday. Somewhere it has exceeded 350 millimeters. The meteorological office also issued a flood warning for areas along the Nepian River. Authorities say Sydney's main embankment has become inoperable due to heavy rains.
