International Desk: Half of Europeans will be infected with Omicron in six to eight weeks, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

In the first week of 2022, it has been reported that 6 million new people have been identified as Kovid across Europe. Based on this, the company has predicted that more people will be infected with Omicron soon.

The company's director of the European region. Hans Klug says the whole region is devastated by the omikron waves that are spreading eastwards from Western Europe. There is a delta type of coronavirus behind the increase in infection.

Already in two weeks the number of Kovid identities has more than doubled. In this context, the Seattle-based Health Metrics and Evaluation Institute predicts that more than 50 percent of the region's population will be exposed to Omicron in the next six to eight weeks.

He said European and Central Asian countries were at risk as the virus spread from Western Europe to the Balkans.

Some recent studies have shown that people with Omicron are less seriously ill than other types of coronavirus. But Omicron is still much more contagious than other types.

Even after people have been fully vaccinated, they can still be infected with Omicron.

The health system is under severe pressure as a record number of people continue to be infected with Omicron.

A total of 142,224 new cases of the virus were detected in the UK on Monday, and six died. A number of hospital staff have announced that the situation is likely to escalate due to the absence of staff and pressure from Kovid patients.
