International Desk: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson hosted a party with a large number of guests amid the coronavirus epidemic. Hundreds of guests were invited to the party, which was held during the first lockdown in the UK, and guests were invited to bring their own wine.

This shocking information came to light in the recent leak of emails sent to the guests of that party. And this is where the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson got into controversy. The BBC and Deutsche Welle reported this information in a report on Tuesday (January 11).

According to the report, the incident which took place in May 2020 was the subject of controversy in the party which was organized during the lockdown imposed due to the Corona epidemic. Lockdown was going on all over the UK at that time. Prohibitions were imposed on everything including rallies and parties to prevent the spread of the disease. On May 20 of that year, Boris Johnson had a garden party with 40 people at 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the British Prime Minister.

According to the broadcaster ITV, the guests were invited via email. They saw that email. Johnson hosted a garden party called "Bring Your Own Alcohol."

However, according to British government rules, only two people could be at home at the time to prevent coronavirus infection. Bars, restaurants are all closed. And that's when Johnson did this party.

Martin Reynolds, Johnson's principal private secretary, sent the email to more than 100 employees. The email said, ‘Take advantage of the beautiful weather after a terribly busy time. We will gather in the evening in the garden number 10 according to the social distance. Please come at 6 o'clock and bring your own wine. '

Although not all guests were present, Johnson had a party with a total of 40 people, including his wife, ITV reported.

However, allegations of lockdown violations against Johnson are not new. He is accused of having multiple parties at 10 Downing Street in 2020. A senior government official is investigating allegations by five parties.

Boris Johnson, meanwhile, did not answer questions from reporters on Monday about whether he had a party with his wife in violation of the Corona rules. Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections. Leaders of the opposition Labor Party and the Scottish National Party have sharply criticized Boris.
