E-commerce companies will have to register within the next two months

News Desk: Companies associated with e-commerce will have to register with the Ministry of Commerce within the next two months and keep a deposit with Bangladesh Bank. Instructions have been given in this regard.

The directive was given at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday (October 26th). The Prime Minister took part in the virtual meeting. After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam told reporters at a press briefing at the Secretariat.

The Cabinet Secretary said that Evali or e-commerce was discussed in today's meeting. They have decided on this, we have sat down ourselves and given instructions. All those who will be involved in such e-commerce will have to register for a preside program within the next two months. Must register with the Ministry of Commerce within two months. Besides, they have to keep a deposit in Bangladesh Bank. So that if anything happens, everyone will be ... (refunded) from that deposit.

Khandaker Anwarul Islam said that BFIU (Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit) and other digital monitoring platforms and intelligence agencies have been instructed to check their character so that no one can do anything wrong.

‘As well as directing extensive campaigns. There have been instructions to run a massive campaign to make people understand. The fact that we are listing these companies on a digital platform is authorized by the government, so no one will transact outside of it. If you do, it is your own responsibility. The government will not take responsibility for that, ”added the cabinet secretary.
