News Desk: Today is Tuesday (September 28) the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was born on 26 September 1947 in Tungipara, Gopalganj. He is the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa and President of Bangladesh Awami League.

The Prime Minister is in the United States on his birthday to attend the 7th session of the UN General Assembly. In his absence, various socio-cultural organizations including his party Awami League and its affiliates will hold various programs in a festive atmosphere on the day.

After the arrest of Bangabandhu on the night of March 25, 1971 and his transfer to Karachi, Pakistan, the whole family was kept under house arrest in a different house in Dhaka. During the war of liberation in besieged Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina became the mother of her first child 'Joy' on 26 July 1981 while under house arrest, her full name was Sajib Wazed Joy. The daughter Saima Wazed Putul was born on December 9, 1982.

Before Bangabandhu was killed along with his family in 1975, Sheikh Hasina went to Europe with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana. While there, he and his family received the news of Bangabandhu's death. As there was no immediate return to the country, she left Europe and took political asylum in India with her husband and children.

Sheikh Hasina's subsequent history is the history of how she became the leader of the Bengali nation in the adventures of the 21st century. He miraculously survived, but the attack killed 24 people and injured 500 leaders and activists.

In the parliamentary elections held on 29 December 2008, the Awami League won a landslide victory with more than two-thirds of the seats. With this victory, Sheikh Hasina was elected the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the second time. He later became the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the third time on January 5, 2014 and for the fourth time after winning the parliamentary elections in December 2016.
