There is huge potential for tourism in Bangladesh: PM

News Desk: Today is Monday (September 26) World Tourism Day. Today, like other countries in the world, the day will be celebrated in Bangladesh through various programs. The aim of the day is to spread social, cultural, political and economic benefits worldwide, including raising public awareness about the role of tourism. The day has been observed on September 26, 1980, under the auspices of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

This year the theme of the day is 'Tourism for Inclusive Growth'. Like every year, various tourism agencies including Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and Bangladesh Tourism Board have organized various events on the occasion of the day. President on the occasion of the day. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have given separate statements.

In a message today, President Md. Abdul Hamid called upon all concerned to work together for the development of tourism as well as national economic development by upholding local culture, traditions and values.

The President said that in order to bring the diverse tourist attractions of Bangladesh to the attention of domestic and foreign tourists, it is necessary to work according to a specific plan. The potential for development of tourism industry in Bangladesh is very bright. This potential should be utilized to attract domestic and foreign investment in the development of the country's tourism industry as well as to provide opportunities for marginalized people to participate. At the same time, the country's tourism industry must be effectively represented in the world court.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the tourism industry is recognized as the largest labor-intensive and largest industry in the world today. In the current context of Bangladesh, the importance of tourism is essential for the inclusive economic growth of the country, including poverty alleviation and massive employment generation and improvement of living standards of marginalized people.
The Prime Minister said there is huge potential for tourism in Bangladesh. This industry has emerged as an important sector in the field of economic development. The present Awami League government is taking various steps to conduct responsible tourism activities through proper management while maintaining the culture, heritage and ecological balance of the abhaman village of Bengal and so that the local people can enjoy its benefits.

On the occasion of the day, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism organized a press briefing on Sunday (September 26) where State Minister Mahbub Ali outlined the activities of various organizations on the occasion of Tourism Day.

The state minister said a discussion program organized by Bangladesh Tourism Board and cooking show organized by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation will be held at Paryatan Bhaban in Agargaon under the supervision of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. At the end of the discussion, a horse-drawn rally will start its journey from the front of the Rally Tourist Building, tour various tourist spots in the capital, conduct tourism campaigns and distribute masks among them to motivate people to adhere to hygiene rules.

Besides, a rally of 20 well-equipped rickshaws with musical instruments will campaign in the Gulshan-Baridhara diplomatic area of ​​the capital on the occasion of World Tourism Day. Discussion meetings with tourism partners will be held in every district of the country under the supervision of the district administration and children's drawing and composition competitions will be organized.

Apart from various other events to mark the day, a boat race will be held on October 2 in Narail district in collaboration with the district administration organized by the Bangladesh Tourism Board.
