News Desk: In the last 24 hours, 242 new dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals in the country. Of these, 175 have been admitted to various government and private hospitals in the capital Dhaka and 61 to various hospitals outside Dhaka. At the same time, two more people have died in the last 24 hours.

According to the Department of Health, most of the patients admitted to the hospital due to dengue are residents of the capital. This year, 61 people have died due to dengue.

This information was given in the regular dengue report of the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Health Department on Sunday (September 26) afternoon.

In the last 24 hours, 242 new dengue patients have been admitted to various hospitals across the country. At present, the total number of patients admitted to various government and private hospitals in the country stands at 1,043.

714 people are admitted in 45 government and private hospitals in Dhaka and 229 people are admitted in different hospitals of other departments.

According to the report, a total of 16,357 patients have been admitted to the hospital from January 1 this year to today (September 28). Among them 16 thousand 253 patients have left the hospital after recovering. Dengue has killed 61 people at this time.

The year began last January with the detection of dengue in the bodies of 32 people. In June it stood at 162 people. In July, the number of identities stood at 2,026. In all, in the first seven months of this year, the total number of dengue cases stood at 2,656. From July the situation began to deteriorate rapidly. In August, the picture became alarming. In that month, the number of dengue patients stood at 7,797. Meanwhile, 7,001 people have been admitted to the hospital for dengue so far this September.

According to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), 12 people died in the first seven months of the year, but 33 died in the next month (August). The Department of Health has even confirmed 15 deaths so far in September. In all, 61 people have died of dengue this year.

Earlier in 2019, the dengue outbreak took a deadly shape. That year, more than a million people were hospitalized with dengue. 146 people died. The second highest death toll from dengue was in 2002, with 57 deaths reported by the Department of Health. In addition, 44 people died in 2001. Although dengue caused a terrible situation in 2019, dengue did not have much impact in 2020 due to the Corona epidemic. However, this time the number of dengue patients is increasing at an alarming rate.
