Sports Desk: The International Cricket Council (ICC), like the rest of the world, is monitoring the current situation in Afghanistan. Officials in Dubai are in regular contact with the Afghan Cricket Board. The ICC is looking at what kind of change is taking place as a result of the Taliban's seizure of power.

The biggest challenge for the Afghan Cricket Board may be to keep women's cricket in the country. The ICC is worried about this. It has become quite popular in the country in recent times. In 2020, for the first time, the ACB brought 25 women cricketers under the central contract. Now it is not clear what will happen to women's cricket.

"I still don't know from the ICC what is happening in women's cricket in Afghanistan," said Lisa Stalker, a member of the ICC Women's Cricket Committee. But personally I am worried about women's cricket there. '

However, cricket officials in Afghanistan are not too worried about running cricket in the country. In a recent interview with PTI, Hamid Shenwari, CEO of the country's cricket board, said the Taliban had brought cricket to Afghanistan.

"The Taliban love cricket," he said. They have supported the game from the beginning. They have never stood in the way of any work in Afghanistan cricket. I do not see any possibility of their intervention. I think the opposite will be their support. They will take our cricket forward. '

"Cricket flourished in Afghanistan during the previous Taliban regime," said Hamid Shinwari. Many of our players get the opportunity to practice in Peshawar and they bring the game of Afghanistan into the mainstream. '

Regarding the safety of the cricketers, the ACB official said, "All but four or five cricketers playing outside are in the country. They are safe and well. "
