News Desk: Brazilian duo Robson Azevedo da Silva Robinho and Jonathan da Silveira Fernandes Reis are aiming to add more successes for Bashundhara Kings who retained the Bangladesh Premier League title for the second time on Monday.

The duo performed brilliantly during the entire tournament as the country’s top outfit defended two of their titles -- Federation Cup and Bangladesh Premier League.

They are now eyeing the upcoming AFC Cup 2021 in Maldives, which is scheduled to be held from August 18-24.

“My first aim is to classify the team for the next phase (in AFC Cup), this will be something historic for the club and Bangladeshi football and its fans,” Robson told The Daily Sun on Tuesday a day after winning the BPL title.

Robson is currently the top goal scorer in the ongoing league with 19 goals. Kings extended the contract with him until October last July.

“For me, it’s very important to be the BPL’s top scorer in my first year. I hope that I will achieve more with the team in the future,” the 26-year-old Brazilian forward said.

“I’m also very happy about the title; I’m also feeling very good about my job. Thanks to all the players, coaching staff and the club president for supporting me, which is very good for me,” he added.

Kings’ other Latin magician Jonathan Fernandes Reis is confident enough of their doing well in the AFC Cup as they took good prepation for the competition.

“We have a great challenge now at the AFC CUP, we have been working a lot throughout the season and we prepared ourselves to tackle this great challenge. We know the difficulties we will face, but we are going to the tournament strongly and represent our Bashundhara Kings club, our fans and our parents,” Jonathan Fernandes said.

The 26-year-old Brazilian playmaker, who has been playing a vital role in the Kings’ attacking side, also wants to show his sparkling performance in the Maldives.

“My goal is to keep the good individual performance and together with my team to make excellent games against very difficult opponents there and with that, we achieve the main aim which is to move to the next stage,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bashundhara Kings will take on Arambagh Krira Sangha in their next BPL match in Kamalapur today before they leave for Maldives to play the AFC Cup on same night.
