We will accept the outcome if the voting is impartial and acceptable: Jamaat leader

He made these remarks today (Thursday) after casting his vote at the Manipur High School and College polling center in the capital while talking to journalists.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “The result that comes through a proper process will be accepted by everyone. If the vote is neutral and acceptable, we will accept the result. Others must accept it too. This is the beauty of democracy.”

He expressed gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to vote after a long wait. He hoped that this election will mark the beginning of a new day in the country. He also mentioned that the day is particularly significant for young people who never had the chance to vote before.

After voting, he said he would observe the situation at other centers and gather news from across the country. He warned that while minor issues may be overlooked, major irregularities will not be tolerated.

Calling for everyone’s cooperation in nation-building, he said that the country belongs to everyone and must be built collectively. Referring to the media as the fourth pillar of society, he expressed his expectation for the media to play a positive role in nation-building.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman urged all voters to go to polling centers and exercise their voting rights peacefully, safely, and without fear. He appealed to both men and women to fulfill their responsibilities, saying that active participation of citizens is necessary for state-building.

Regarding media coverage, he said that the same news is presented differently by different outlets. He added that if someone commits a crime, the media should take a stand against it. He also said that portraying a non-criminal issue as a crime is wrong.
