Jamaat Amir Lies Down on Stage After getting a Shital Pati

News Desk: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman lay down on the stage after receiving a shital pati (traditional cooling mat) as a gift from a local supporter during an election rally in Jhalakathi.

The incident occurred on Friday (6 February) at noon when he arrived at an election rally held at the Jhalakathi Government High School field. However, after a short while, he got up and exchanged greetings and views with the leaders and activists present.

At around 2:00 pm, he delivered his speech as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, the Jamaat Amir said that Shaheed Sharif Osman bin Hadi is the pride of Jhalakathi and was a brave and protest-oriented son of this region. “He does not belong to any single party; he is the pride of the entire nation. Hadi carried two dreams in his heart—one was a Bangladesh free from domination, and the other was a discrimination-free state based on justice. While fighting to realize those dreams, he sacrificed his life. Insha’Allah, if we form the government, the proper trial for Hadi’s killing will certainly be ensured,” he said.

He further stated that the state must take responsibility for Hadi’s blood. “The culture of impunity that prevails in the country will not be allowed to continue. If a Jamaat-e-Islami–led alliance government is formed, the families of the martyrs will not only receive consolation but also justice. This is our commitment,” he added.

Special guests at the rally included National Citizen Party (NCP) Deputy Chief Organizer Dr. Mahmuda Alam Mitu, Jamaat-e-Islami Central Assistant Secretary General Advocate Moazzem Hossain Helal, Jamaat-nominated candidate for Jhalakathi-2 constituency SM Neyamul Karim, Jhalakathi-1 candidate Dr. Faizul Haque, Bangladesh Labor Party Chairman Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Iran, AB Workers Party Joint Coordinator Sheikh Jamal Hossain, and Jhalakathi NCP Convener Mainul Islam Manna.
