Massive public rally of Tarique Rahman in Faridpur: A host of promises including divisional formation and a farmer card

Faridpur Correspondent: A massive public rally was held at the Government Rajendra College ground in Faridpur in the presence of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman. The gathering, organized on Wednesday afternoon, witnessed an overflowing crowd; from early morning, waves of party leaders and activists arrived from the district and surrounding areas, turning the entire area into a sea of people.

In his address, Tarique Rahman outlined the BNP’s future plans for national development and safeguarding public interests. The notable points of his speech are as follows:
Formation of Faridpur Division:
He announced that if the BNP forms the government, Faridpur will be upgraded to a full-fledged administrative division in the interest of development and administrative efficiency.
River erosion control:
He pledged swift and effective measures to prevent erosion caused by the Padma River and its associated rivers, a long-standing curse for the region.
Farmer and Family Cards:
He announced the introduction of a Farmer Card to ensure easy access to seeds, fertilizer, and pesticides for farmers, and a Family Card to promote women’s self-reliance.
Healthcare:
He spoke of plans to recruit healthcare workers for every household in both rural and urban areas to deliver grassroots-level health services.
Infrastructure and water:
He assured the construction of necessary infrastructure and bridges to address water-related challenges.
Political context and warning:
Recalling the 2024 student–public movement, Tarique Rahman said that freedom fighters achieved independence in 1971, and in 2024 students and the public protected that independence. Criticizing a particular political party, he said:
“The leader of a clandestine group made objectionable remarks about our mothers and sisters. Their history is disgraceful, as was proven in 1971.”

Call to the youth:
Highlighting the economic potential of the southern region, the BNP chairman said that with good governance, this region could become the main driving force of the country’s economy. He urged the youth to stand up against injustice and help build the Bangladesh of tomorrow.
