Trishal Free Day Celebrated with Due Respect at Nazrul University

Mymensingh Correspondent: Trishal Free Day was celebrated with due respect at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University. On Tuesday (December 9, 2025) morning, the Honourable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, hoisted the national flag with the national anthem in front of the new administrative building. After hoisting the flag, a Victory Rally paraded the various roads of the university and ended at the 'Chiro Unnot Momo Shir' monument. There, wreaths were laid on behalf of the university family to pay deep respect to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War. A brief discussion meeting was held after the tribute. In his speech as the Chief Guest at the discussion meeting, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam said, "We remember with deep respect the freedom fighters who gave their lives, their wealth, and made various sacrifices, and we pray for the salvation of their departed souls. Although we may not feel the excitement and emotion with the same intensity with which the residents of Trishal experienced this day on December 9, 1971, we hold it in our consciousness. It is from this time in December that we began to regain our lost power. In 1971, Bengalis were united for the first time. The struggle to end political, administrative, and economic deprivation began on this day, culminating in the final victory on December 16. We wish that by holding onto the spirit of Trishal Free Day and Victory Day, we may continue to live freely as true Bangladeshis in the future.” Treasurer Professor Dr. Zainul Abedin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Mohammad Imdadul Huda, and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Convener of the Trishal Free Day, Martyred Intellectuals, and Great Victory Day Celebration Committee Professor Dr. A H M Kamal also spoke at the meeting. Also present at the event were Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Professor Dr. Sakhawat Hossain Sarkar, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Member-Secretary of the Celebration Committee Professor Dr. Muhammad Emdadur Rashed (Rashed Sukhon), Dean of the Faculty of Law Muhammad Irfan Aziz, Registrar (Acting) Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Proctor Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Director of the Students' Welfare and Guidance Office Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam, along with teachers, officials, employees, and students.
