Because of repeated earthquakes in Dhaka and across the country, fear has spread among students of different institutions. In this situation, after Dhaka University, Jagannath University (JnU) has now been declared closed for four days. At the same time, female students have been instructed to leave their halls by 10:00 AM tomorrow.
On Sunday (23 November), the university administration made this decision in an emergency meeting. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Rezaul Karim, confirmed this information.
He said, “We have announced that all classes and exams will be suspended until next Thursday. That means there will be no classes or exams until the 27th.”
The Vice-Chancellor also said, “We have formed a monitoring committee. Our buildings will be examined by experts, and they have been asked to submit their report by December 4. Further decisions will be taken based on that report. Meanwhile, from November 30 to December 4, classes will be held online.”
Earlier, yesterday (Saturday), Dhaka University was declared closed for 15 days, and students were asked to leave their residential halls by 5:00 PM today.
