Tarique Rahman has Called an Emergency Meeting Tonight

News Desk: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called an emergency meeting of the party’s Standing Committee.

The meeting is scheduled to take place tonight (Monday) at 8:30 p.m. at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, confirmed Standing Committee member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.

He said, “There is no specific agenda for today’s meeting. It will be an open discussion. However, the meeting is certainly important.”

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will chair the meeting virtually from London.

Although the exact reason for calling the meeting has not been officially disclosed, a Standing Committee member said it was convened to discuss some “urgent” matters.

According to party sources, the meeting is likely to address key issues such as party nominations for the upcoming national election, disputes over the July certificate and referendum, and the deadline given by the interim government to political parties to resolve internal disagreements.
