Trump announces he will 'sell' US citizenship for $5 million

International Desk:  US President Donald Trump has announced the sale of gold cards to wealthy foreigners. Foreigners will be able to get these cards for $5 million (600 million 59 million taka in Bangladeshi currency). Through this, they will be able to live and work in the United States.

In the Oval Office, Trump said, "We are going to sell a gold card. This card will be worth $5 million. Through this, you will get the benefits of a green card and will also facilitate the path to citizenship. The rich will buy this card and come to our country."

Donald Trump said the card will go on sale in the next two weeks. He expects it to reach millions of people.

Asked if he would consider selling the card to Russian oligarchs, Trump replied, "Yes, probably. I know some Russian oligarchs who are very good people."

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, standing next to Trump, said the card would replace the government's EB-5 immigrant investor visa program, which currently allows foreign investors to apply for a green card by investing a specified amount of money in projects that create jobs in the United States.

Lutnick said the new rules require applicants to go through a vetting process to ensure they are good citizens.

The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program is administered by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). It was initiated in 1990 to stimulate the U.S. economy by creating jobs and investing capital through foreign investors.

Many countries around the world have visa facilities for investors. Consulting firm Henley & Partners said that more than 100 countries around the world have a 'golden visa' system in place for wealthy individuals.
