International Desk: The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than two and a half years. Since the beginning of this conflict in February 2022, several countries of the Western world, including the United States, have been helping this Eastern European country. In addition to providing weapons, Washington has provided the country with extensive military funding. But the situation is different now. Donald Trump is expected to cut aid to Ukraine after his election as US president.

In such a situation, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed fear of defeat in the war. He said "we will lose" if the US cuts military aid to Ukraine. The news agency AFP reported this information in a report on Wednesday (November 20). President Volodymyr Zelensky told Fox News on Tuesday that Ukraine would "lose" the war against Russia if the United States cuts military funding to Kiev, according to reports.

"If they cut aid, we — I think we lose," he said in an interview with the US television network. The Ukrainian president added, “We will fight. We have our own production, but it is not enough to win the war. And I think it's not even enough to survive (in combat). US President-elect Donald Trump has been a staunch critic of the billions of dollars in financial and military aid that President Joe Biden's administration has given Ukraine since the Russian invasion began in 2022, AFP reports.

During the election campaign, President Trump repeatedly promised to end the war quickly. But he did not detail how he would do that. President Biden recently authorized Ukraine to use US-supplied long-range missiles to strike inside Russia. But this decision has been strongly criticized by Trump's allies. They even accused Biden of dangerously escalating tensions in the Ukraine war.

President Zelensky told Fox News in an interview that "unity" between Ukraine and the United States is "of the utmost importance." He claimed that Trump could influence Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war, "because he is much stronger than Putin". He added that Putin "could agree and end this war, but it's very much up to the United States." Because Putin is weaker than the US.” Incidentally, in February 2022, the Russian military launched an all-out attack on Ukraine.

Since then, around 12,000 civilians have been killed in this Eastern European country. In this two-and-a-half-year-long war, Russian forces have partially occupied four provinces of Ukraine: Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia. The combined area of the Russian-occupied parts of these four provinces is one-fifth of the total territory of Ukraine. In addition, last Friday, Russian forces also made progress in the eastern front.
