International Desk: The government of Maldives has announced the imposition of restrictions on the entry of Israelis due to the invasion of the occupied Gaza Strip by Palestine. If the ban goes into effect, no Israelis will be able to enter this small Muslim-majority country in the Indian Ocean.
Al Jazeera news. According to Al Jazeera news, Homeland Security and Technology Minister Ali Ihsan announced this decision in a press conference held at the President's office in the afternoon.
He also announced the appointment of a Palestinian ambassador and a fundraising campaign to support UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees. The source added that Israel has launched a campaign to label UNRWA as a terrorist organization. There they alleged the involvement of the organization's workers in the October 7 attack.
Many of the organization's western donor countries have stopped funding. A subsequent investigation led by a French official later found that Israel could not provide sufficient evidence to support its claims. As a result, most donors have started funding the organization again. Anger among the Maldivian people against Israel has been growing over the Gaza war that started last October.
In addition, the opposition parties and allies of the coalition government have been pressuring President Muijzu to impose a ban on the entry of Israelis into the country. It should be noted that Israel started the military invasion of Gaza on October 7. Even though the war has been going on for eight months, there is still no sign of this war stopping.
Already, more than 36,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza by Israeli attacks. Most of them are women and children. Apart from this, more than 80 thousand people were injured in the war.
