International Desk: After a long tension, the proposal for an emergency ceasefire in the Gaza Strip has finally been passed by the UN Security Council. After that, the Israeli aggression that has been going on for the past six months in Gaza is expected to stop.
However, Israel says it will not stop its attacks on Gaza despite the UN Security Council's passing of a cease-fire resolution. The Israeli Foreign Minister reported this information. Anadolu news agency reported this information in a report on Tuesday (March 26).
Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz said on Monday that Tel Aviv will not agree to a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip despite the UN Security Council's resolution, according to reports. In a statement on the social media platform Xay Katz said on his account, "Israel will not hold a ceasefire." We will destroy Hamas and continue to fight until all prisoners return home.
Anadolu says the UN Security Council on Monday passed a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. This holy month started on March 11 in the Middle East and may end on April 9. 14 countries voted in favor of the resolution presented by the 10 elected members of the Council.
On the other hand, the United States was the only country to abstain from voting. In addition, the superpower did not present any argument against the proposal or exercise veto power. Israel's UN envoy Gilad Erdan claimed the UN proposal would "undermine efforts to secure" the release of Israeli prisoners from Gaza. Anadolu says that the UN resolution "calls on all parties for an immediate ceasefire for the holy month of Ramadan." Which would then lead to a permanent sustained ceasefire.
The resolution also called for the "immediate and unconditional release of all detainees as well as ensuring humanitarian access to meet their medical and other humanitarian needs". Meanwhile, more than a hundred Palestinians have been killed in the barbaric Israeli attack on the occupied Palestinian territory of Gaza. With this, the total number of people killed in the valley has reached 32 thousand 333 people.
Gaza's health ministry said in a press statement on Monday that the Israeli army killed 107 Palestinians and injured 176 others in brutal attacks in the past 24 hours. According to the ministry, this brings the total number of dead since the start of Israel's aggression on October 7 last year to 32,333. Besides, another 74 thousand 694 people were injured.
In addition, more than two million residents have been forced to leave their homes due to Israeli aggression. Basically the Israeli invasion has reduced Gaza to rubble. According to the United Nations, about 85 percent of Gaza's Palestinians have been displaced by Israel's brutal offensive. And with severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine, all of Gaza is now food insecure.
