International Desk: Hamas leader Marwan Issa was killed in an Israeli airstrike, White House official Jake Sullivan said. Issa is the deputy commander of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian independence group Hamas.

However, Hamas has not officially commented on Issa's death. BBC news Israeli media sources said Issa was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the night of March 9 that targeted an underground tunnel in the al-Nusairat refugee camp in central Gaza.

According to Reuters, Jesus is known as the "Shadow Man" because of his ability to hide behind his eyes. He was one of three top Hamas leaders who planned the unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7. The attack started the Gaza War and the three are believed to have been directing Hamas's military operations ever since.
