Morocco has banned a British film starring Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad. The film, produced by British director Eli King, has been widely condemned in the Muslim world as blasphemy. The Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) said in a statement on Saturday night that the film, titled "The Lady of Heaven", would not be licensed for screening in Morocco. CCM has issued a directive banning commercial or cultural screenings of the film, produced by British director Eli King, in Morocco. Eli Lady called The Lady of Heaven the first film about the life of Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In the film, the director seeks to establish a controversial link between 21st century Islamic State (IS) and Sunni Islamic historians. Which has created intense anger in the Muslim world. Earlier, in a statement on Saturday, the Ulema Council, Morocco's highest religious policy-making body, strongly condemned the film. A few hours later, CCM issued an order banning the film. The statement said the film was a "clear lie" of all established truths in the history of Islam. The controversial film was released in Britain on June 3 amid widespread outrage and condemnation from the Muslim world. Later, Muslims staged a protest outside a cinema hall in Britain. Cineworld, the world's second-largest movie chain, was forced to cancel all screenings of the film in the face of strong Muslim protests. Many Muslim countries, including Egypt, Pakistan, Iran and Iraq, have strongly condemned the film, calling it an insult to Islam.
