District Commissioner Tennis Tournament Begins in Naogaon After Six Years

Naogaon Correspondent: Under the theme “A Century on the Court of Glory” and to mark the centenary of Naogaon Tennis Club, the District Commissioner Tennis Tournament-2025 is set to begin in Naogaon. This was confirmed at a press conference on Monday afternoon at the Naogaon Tennis Club grounds.

The press conference highlighted that Naogaon Tennis Club was established in 1924 and has maintained its prestige in the national tennis arena ever since. The club has been working to promote tennis in Naogaon, nurture new talent, and showcase the region’s tennis reputation both nationally and internationally. Continuing this legacy, the District Commissioner has organized the tournament to bring tennis closer to all sports enthusiasts in the district. All arrangements for the tournament have been completed, including the construction of a new court for the centenary, renovation of three courts, and decoration of the entire grounds.

The tournament will officially begin on Wednesday, November 12, at 4:00 PM at the Naogaon Tennis Club. A total of 21 teams, including the renowned Dhaka Officers Club and Naogaon Tennis Club teams, as well as teams from other districts, will participate. All matches will be open to spectators without tickets, provided audience discipline is maintained. The final match will take place on the afternoon of November 15 at the same venue, after which the winners and runners-up will receive trophies, and the best players will be awarded prizes in a ceremony attended by the Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner and other distinguished guests.

The information was shared by Sadia Afrin, Additional District Commissioner (Overall), co-vice president of Naogaon Tennis Club, and tournament director. Other speakers included the club’s General Secretary Tarif Mohammad Apon, co-vice presidents Kazi Md. Idris and Kibria Akhtaruzzaman, assistant general secretary Md. Moshiur Rahman, and former co-vice president Professor Md. Shariful Islam Khan. Club members, local media personnel, and other dignitaries were also present at the press conference.
