Thakurgaon Correspondent: Delawar Hossain, Assistant Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan South, former Central President of Islami Chhatra Shibir, and Jamaat-nominated candidate for the upcoming parliamentary election from Thakurgaon-1 (Sadar) constituency, said that Bangladesh’s future will be determined through the upcoming national election. He stated that the direction in which the country will proceed—whether under the leadership of patriotic Islamic values and nationalist forces, or under anti-national fascists and their allies—will be decided in this election.

He said the people of the country had been held hostage for 16 long years by Awami fascists influenced by foreign powers. Through the July-August movement, students and the general public sacrificed their lives to free the nation. It is now everyone’s responsibility to fulfill their dreams and aspirations. To honor the sacrifices of the martyrs and the wounded of July, voters must elect individuals with patriotic Islamic values in the upcoming parliamentary election. Without their great sacrifice, we would not have been freed from the prison of Awami tyranny.

He made these remarks on Thursday (31 July) as the chief guest at a training event organized by the Thakurgaon city branch of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for vote center committee members ahead of the national election.

Delawar Hossain further said that since independence, the people of this country have entrusted many parties with the responsibility of governing the state, but once in power, they became focused on their own development. They did not care about the common people, nor about their education, health, medical care, or employment. While MPs and ministers prospered, the general people of their areas remained neglected. If the people of this country give Jamaat-e-Islami the opportunity to lead in the future, they will serve the people—not rule over them.

Addressing his party workers, Delawar Hossain said that those who will be on duty at the polling centers must remember that votes are a sacred trust. The public will deposit their trust at the voting centers, and it is your duty to guard it. Under no circumstances should you neglect this responsibility. From the beginning of voting to the end of counting and result declaration, no one should leave their polling station. No matter the obstacles, you must remain steadfast in your duty.

The training event was presided over by Thakurgaon City Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Shamsuzzaman Shah Shamim. Other speakers included Central Majlish-e-Shura member and former Thakurgaon District Ameer Maulana Abdul Hakim, current District Ameer Professor Belal Uddin Pradhan, District Secretary Mohammad Alamgir, and Assistant District Secretary Principal Kofil Uddin Ahmad, among others.
