Gopalpur (Tangail) Correspondent: The 74th birthday of renowned veteran poet Abdus Sattar Palashi was celebrated with various events in Gopalpur, Tangail.
On Wednesday (July 1), the Ronola Literary and Cultural Society organized a discussion meeting and prayer ceremony at the Gopalpur Muktijoddha Sangsad Building to mark the occasion.
The event was chaired by noted poet Md. Idris Hossain. A welcome address was delivered by Md. Muktar Hossain, Vice President of the Ronola Literary and Cultural Society, as well as a novelist and poet.
The program was moderated by Assistant Professor K. M. Shamim, President of the Tangail District BMGTA. Speakers highlighted the poet's life, literary works, and creative contributions. Among those who spoke were poet and writer Abul Kashem Khalil Ullah; Assistant Professor Atol Shariyat Ullah, President of the Upazila BMGTA and General Secretary of the Gopalpur Press Club; Md. Shahanur Ahmed Sohag, President of JASAS; Biswajit Chakraborty, General Secretary of Bairan; Mahbub Reza Sarkar Atik, Secretary of SUJAN; poet Abdul Jalil; Shibu; and several other local figures from the literary, cultural, and social communities.
During the event, guests presented flowers and gifts to Abdus Sattar Palashi as a mark of respect and to extend their birthday wishes.
The program concluded with a special prayer for the poet's good health, long life, and continued success. The prayer was led by prominent Islamic scholar Md. Nazir Hossain Siddiqui
