News Desk: The government has approved naming two private colleges in the country after former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman. At the same time, it has also approved the renaming of two other private educational institutions through separate notifications.
Three separate notifications regarding these changes were issued on Sunday (June 28) by the Private College-6 Section of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.
According to the notifications, Nazirpur College in Nazirpur Upazila of Pirojpur, under the Barishal region, will be renamed Shaheed Zia College, Nazirpur, Pirojpur. Likewise, Janata Bazar College in Char Fasson, Bhola, has been renamed Janata Bazar Shaheed Ziaur Rahman College, Char Fasson, Bhola.
In another separate notification, Maulana Asad Ali Degree College in Madhabpur Upazila of Habiganj has been approved to be renamed Syed Saeeduddin Degree College, Madhabpur, Habiganj.
A separate notification issued on the same day also approved renaming Ayesha Siddiq Women's College in Katiadi, Kishoreganj, as Ayesha Siddiq Model College.
The notifications stated that permission for the name changes of the respective private colleges had been granted under official instructions. All three notifications were signed by Monjurul Alam, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Private College-6 Section of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.
