Diplomatic Correspondent: Bangladesh and Morocco have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with a renewed focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, textiles, maritime affairs, manpower and cultural exchanges.
The commitment came during a courtesy call by the Ambassador of Morocco to Bangladesh, H.E. Ms. Lalla Bouthaina El Kerdoudi El Koulali, on Hon'ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, MP, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the State Minister welcomed the newly appointed Moroccan Ambassador and expressed Bangladesh's readiness to work closely with Morocco to further deepen the longstanding friendship and mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.
The two sides explored opportunities to enhance collaboration across a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, textiles, jute and jute products, maritime affairs, shipbuilding and manpower. The State Minister also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in sports, culture, science and technology.
Ambassador El Kerdoudi highlighted Morocco's strategic geographical position as a gateway to both African and European markets. She proposed joint ventures between Bangladesh and Morocco, particularly in the textile, pharmaceutical and maritime sectors, and reaffirmed Morocco's commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in all areas, including the recruitment of skilled and semi-skilled workers.
The State Minister also emphasized the need to promote greater people-to-people connectivity through cultural and sports exchanges. She further underscored the importance of concluding a visa waiver agreement, alongside maintaining regular bilateral engagements and high-level visits to further reinforce the partnership.
The meeting reflected the shared commitment of Bangladesh and Morocco to expanding economic cooperation and fostering stronger diplomatic ties for mutual growth and prosperity.
