Diplomatic Correspondent: India’s High Commissioner-designate to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, arrived in Bangladesh on Friday through the Petrapole–Benapole border checkpoint to assume his diplomatic responsibilities in Dhaka.
According to a statement issued by the High Commission of India in Dhaka, Mr. Trivedi crossed into Bangladesh via the Petrapole–Benapole land border and was warmly received by India’s Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mr. Pawan Badhe.
Mr. Trivedi was accompanied by his wife, Madam Mrs. Minal Trivedi. The Indian High Commission extended a warm welcome to the couple as they begin their new assignment in Bangladesh.
The arrival of the new High Commissioner comes at a significant time in India-Bangladesh relations, with both countries continuing to engage closely on issues of mutual interest, including trade, connectivity, development cooperation, energy security, and people-to-people exchanges.
A seasoned political leader and former Union Minister of India, Dinesh Trivedi is expected to play an important role in further strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two neighboring countries.
The High Commission of India shared the update on its official social media platforms, highlighting Mr. Trivedi’s arrival and welcoming him to Bangladesh as he prepares to formally take charge of his new diplomatic mission.
Diplomatic observers believe that his tenure will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation and deepening the friendly relations that have characterized India-Bangladesh ties over the years.
