News Desk: In connection with the brutal murder of a 7‑year‑old child in Pallabi in the capital, the accused killer Sohel Rana has voluntarily given a confessional statement in court. In his statement, horrifying details emerged of the couple’s brutality against the second-grade student, including rape, strangulation, and severing the child’s head from her lifeless body with a sharp knife.

There has been widespread demand for the maximum punishment of the accused Sohel Rana. Prominent cricketers Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mushfiqur Rahim have posted on social media calling for swift and exemplary punishment for the killing of the innocent child.

Former national team captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza wrote, “No one may ever keep count of how many innocent lives like Ramisa have been lost. But this brutality must end. Every instance of impunity emboldens criminals. Let there be the fastest and most exemplary punishment for this heinous injustice. Let every child grow up safe, secure, and joyful…”

Former world’s top all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan wrote, “The cry of a child is not just the grief of one family—it is the echo of the failure of an entire society. Those who destroy innocent childhood through such brutal acts are enemies of humanity. Delayed justice only emboldens wrongdoing. We demand the swiftest and most exemplary punishment for Ramisa.”

Experienced national team cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim wrote, “I was stunned to hear the news this morning. Little Ramisa deserved safety, love, and shelter—not such horrific cruelty. I demand swift and exemplary justice for this innocent child. No family should have to endure such pain. The highest punishment must be ensured for crimes against children.”

Bangladesh Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto wrote, “We want a society where every child can smile safely, where they grow with dreams—not fear. No life should end like this again. May Allah grant her Jannatul Ferdous, and may the guilty receive such punishment that serves as an example for society.”

ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz wrote, “In the brutal killing of child Ramisa in Pallabi, Mirpur, and in all similar incidents, it is crucial to quickly bring the perpetrators under the law and ensure maximum punishment. We must all be more aware and united against rape, abuse, and all forms of violence. Ensuring a safe childhood, dignity, and a humane environment for every child is our responsibility. We must ensure no child faces such brutality again.”

On Tuesday (May 19) at around 11:30 a.m., police recovered Ramisa’s dismembered body from a third-floor flat in a house in Block B of Mirpur-11. Earlier that morning, at around 10:30 a.m., she was supposed to go to school with her elder sister, but suddenly went missing.

Ramisa’s mother noticed her shoes outside a neighboring flat and knocked on the door. When no one responded, suspicion grew. She called the national emergency service (999), after which police arrived, broke open the door, and recovered the torso from under a bed and the severed head from a bathroom. After the incident, the main accused Sohel Rana fled by breaking the bathroom grill.

Later that evening, he was arrested from Fatullah in Narayanganj. He works as a rickshaw mechanic and had rented the flat with his wife two months earlier. Police seized bloodstained evidence from the scene and detained his wife for questioning.

National team star pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib wrote, “The laws given by Allah are not medieval; rather, they are a complete solution for all eras. People fail to understand this due to a lack of awareness.”
