27,000 legal arms have been deposited across the country, 20,000 have not been deposited

News Desk The interim government has imposed restrictions on legal firearms with the aim of conducting the 13th National Assembly elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner on February 12. As a part of this, 27,995 legal or licensed weapons were deposited across the country.

It is known that 48,283 firearm licenses are issued in the name of individuals. So far 20,288 weapons have not yet been deposited.

According to a notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs, legal action will be taken against those violating the order under the relevant section of the Arms Act, 1878.

Earlier, a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on January 18 said that January 31 is the last day to submit legal weapons to the respective police stations. Action will be taken as per law if arms are not surrendered within the stipulated time.

If this order is violated, strict action will be taken against those concerned as per prevailing law. All the police superintendents of the country are instructed to take necessary measures to implement the instructions.

Among the firearms that have not been deposited, the weapons obtained during the tenure of Awami League are said to be more. Many of the owners of these weapons have fled abroad. Many people in the country are covered.

When asked about personal weapons looted from the police station in a press conference at the police headquarters on Tuesday (February 11), IGP Baharul Alam said that any weapon is a threat. Beyond this, weapons enter the country in various ways. All measures have been taken to deal with that.
