The Army Chief assured cooperation with the government during the election

The Chief of Army Staff, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, assured cooperation with the government and the relevant authorities in the upcoming national parliamentary election.

He said this on Sunday (23 November) at an event held at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment on the occasion of Armed Forces Day.

The Army Chief said, “In the coming days, the country is going to an election. For ensuring a fair election, we will cooperate with the government, and we will also cooperate with the Election Commission.”

He also said that the Bangladesh Army will continue to work for the interest and welfare of the country and its people, following the path shown by the Freedom Fighters.

Earlier, for acts of bravery and outstanding contributions to the force, 64 army members were awarded medals and 75 families of Freedom Fighters were honored.

At the event, for various contributions in the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 fiscal years, 9 people received the “Bangladesh Army Medal”, 17 received the “Extraordinary Service Medal”, and 38 army members received the “Distinguished Service Medal”.
