Senior Secretary of the Election Commission, Akhtar Ahmed, said that during the national election, the whole country will be divided into three zones red, yellow, and green to control the law and order situation. He said this today (Sunday, 23 November) during a meeting with a 6-member delegation of the Commonwealth led by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

After an hour-long discussion, Akhtar Ahmed said that the Commonwealth considers the national election as an additional responsibility and challenge. They are optimistic about the preparations of the Election Commission. The Commonwealth believes that the participation of foreign observers will increase the credibility of the election. However, they have not yet decided whether they will send an observer team.

In the meeting, the organization’s Secretary-General, Shirley Botchwey, said that they need to focus on making the election credible. She praised the EC’s ongoing initiative for expatriate voting and assured full support if the EC needs any assistance.
