The country's economic situation remains stable: Governor

Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, has stated that the country’s overall economic condition remains stable, adding that a stable political environment would further boost economic growth.

He made these remarks on Saturday (November 8) at the Water Garden Resort in Basail, Tangail, while delivering the keynote speech at a regional seminar on MFI-Bank Linkage.

The seminar was organized by the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) to facilitate easier access to banking funds for rural poor communities.

Regarding the progress in recovering laundered money, the Governor said that lawyers have been sent to England by various banks to establish claims on different groups of companies. He noted that if successful, positive results are expected soon.

The seminar, chaired by MRA Executive Vice Chairman Dr. Mohammad Helal Uddin, also featured speeches by Sonali Bank Managing Director Shawkat Ali Khan, BRAC Bank Deputy Managing Director Syed Abdul Momen, and others.

Chairpersons of various NGOs from across the country were also present at the seminar.
