Five Dengue Deaths Reported Nationwide in 24 Hours

News Desk: In the past 24 hours, five people have died from dengue, a mosquito-borne viral disease transmitted by the Aedes mosquito. During the same period, 622 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country with dengue fever.

The Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released the update on Wednesday (17 September). Among the five deceased, four were women and one was a man.

According to the report, between 8:00 AM Tuesday and 8:00 AM Wednesday, hospital admissions for dengue included 199 patients in Dhaka city, 131 in Barishal Division, 104 in Dhaka Division (outside the capital), 98 in Chattogram Division, 51 in Rajshahi Division, 19 in Mymensingh Division, 14 in Khulna Division, and 6 in Rangpur Division.

So far this year, 161 people have died from dengue, while a total of 39,814 patients have been hospitalized with the disease.
