LNG Being Purchased from US Company for Country's Needs: Finance Adviser

News Desk: Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has stated that liquefied natural gas (LNG) is being purchased from US company Excelerate Energy not considering any individual, but for the country's needs.

He made this statement while speaking to journalists after a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement on Tuesday (September 16).

In response to a question, the Finance Adviser said that although former Ambassador Peter Haas is associated with the US-based company Excelerate Energy, the decision to purchase LNG from them was made due to the country's demand, not considering any individual.

He further informed that although wheat is being imported from the United States at higher prices to reduce the trade deficit, this will not have any impact at the consumer level. The relevant ministry will investigate the allegations of corruption in fertilizer imports.

Additionally, Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed stated that the government is taking new initiatives to increase employment.
