News Desk: The ninth meeting of the National Training Council was held, presided over by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government. Other attendees included Economic Advisor Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed, Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Najrul, Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain, Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, and Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Niaz Ahmed Khan.

During the meeting, it was decided that the duration of foundational training for cadre officers will be reduced from six months to four months. Within this period, three months will be spent at the training institute, and one month will include field orientation and village attachment.

Additionally, the maximum age for admission to Master’s and PhD programs for officers has been raised from 45 to 47 years. For PhD programs, officers must submit annual progress certificates from their supervisors to the ministry; failure to do so will result in suspension of salary.

The Chief Advisor emphasized the need to evaluate all government training centers systematically. Criteria such as the type and quality of training should be established, and each center should be ranked and regularly monitored. An independent unit will be formed to conduct systematic and impartial evaluations of all research institutions to ensure they are functioning properly. Information on officers who received training abroad will also be maintained in this unit.

It was decided to rename the “Sanjeevani Training” program as “Skill Renewal Training.” This training must be conducted in the field at relevant government or private institutions following the updated curriculum. Officers receiving partial scholarships for higher education will also be granted leave with permission.

Furthermore, modules on Virtue, Morality, Behavioral Science, and Code of Ethics will be incorporated into various training programs to foster integrity, ethical development, and anti-corruption awareness among employees. Research, monitoring, and evaluation activities will be conducted to assess officers’ training, training institutions, and related decision-making processes.

An Executive Committee (ECNTC) was formed during the meeting, with Economic Advisor Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed appointed as its Chairperson.
