News Desk:
A court has ordered the seizure of a 3,276 square feet flat in Ramna, Dhaka, valued at 36.5 million Taka, owned by former National Board of Revenue (NBR) chairman Md. Najibur Rahman. Additionally, seven bank accounts and five BO (Beneficial Owner) accounts in his name have been frozen.
The order was issued on Tuesday by Senior Special Judge Md. Zakir Hossain of Dhaka Metropolitan Court following an application filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The application states that an investigation officer was appointed to probe allegations against Md. Najibur Rahman for accumulating wealth worth billions of Taka through bribery, corruption, and transfer trading. During the investigation, a review of relevant records revealed information about movable and immovable assets registered under Najibur Rahman and his family members. The court was informed that no legitimate sources could be found to justify the acquisition of these assets.
It is noteworthy that Najibur Rahman, former chief secretary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s office, was arrested on the night of October 6 last year from Gulshan.
